Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We automatically grant admission to students’ siblings as long as they are in a grade for which we are accepting applications. You must still fill out an application for them to gain admission.

Yes. Each of our schools has a dedicated team of special education professionals. In Bridgeport, we give admissions preference to English Language Learners (ELL), and we have staff members who are able to accommodate these students’ needs at all of our campuses.

Our school in Newark serves grades Pre-K-12. Bridgeport is currently accepting applications for grades 6-9. Next year our schools in NYC and Wilmington will serve grades 6-8. Beginning in 2018-2019, we’ll expand beyond middle school to high school in Bridgeport, NYC, and Wilmington until we serve grades 6-12.

We are currently accepting applications for 6th grade for the 2017-2018 school year in New York City, Bridgeport, and Wilmington. We are accepting applications for all grades at Great Oaks Legacy (Newark).

No. We admit students through an open-admissions lottery, which means students gain admission through a randomized process after they apply.

No. Great Oaks Charter Schools are tuition-free.

Charter schools are public schools funded by local governments that are run by people or organizations that are not employed by the local school district.
