About Our Schools

At Great Oaks Charter Schools, we believe every child can succeed, and we will do whatever it takes to enable our students to thrive in college and in life.

We set ourselves apart from other college preparatory charter schools through the use of a high-dosage mentoring model. In addition to outstanding classroom instruction delivered by our teachers, we ensure all of our students get a daily boost from the Great Oaks Fellowship, 310 recent college graduates who dedicate a year of service in our schools. Each Corps member works closely with a group of students, helping them close the achievement gap between themselves and their wealthier peers and, ultimately, succeed in college. Outside of mentoring, Corps members act as coaches, developing close relationships with students and their families.

We know a high quality education, provided by our dedicated fellows and teachers, facilitates a bright future for Great Oaks students. However, to truly succeed, Great Oaks students must learn how to assess the world around them, understand the influences in their own lives, and take ownership of their academic and personal trajectory. Our students are incredible young people, and by empowering them to take their future into their own hands, we are amplifying their ability to give back, act as leaders for others, and make a difference – however big or small – in their own communities.
