“I realized I want to do this forever.”
GO-Wilmington’s Executive Director Kia Johnson was featured in an article for the Delaware Online that explores the lives of educators who participate in the Lead for Delaware program. The program aims to train educators on how to better serve students in areas that are greatly affected by poverty and trauma. In the article, Kia shares her story as a Wilmington native who once sought a career in law, until her life experiences showed her that her passion lay in education. Kia’s personal ties to the community she serves allows her to fully grasp how much is at stake for her students and pushes her to ensure that she provides them with the high-quality, wholesome education that they deserve.
