Megan Benay

Megan Benay is the Director of Inclusive Education at Great Oaks Foundation where she leads the work to support schools across the network to improve social, emotional, and academic outcomes for students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and other special populations. Prior to joining Great Oaks, Megan supported the education program at the Carnegie Corporation of New York as a Program Analyst in the New Designs to Advance Learning portfolio. Megan started her career at a public elementary school in New York City, serving as a special education teacher, music teacher, and administrative intern. An alumna of the NYC Teaching Fellows program and Teachers College Summer Principals Academy, she holds a BA in psychology from the University of Vermont’s Honors College, an MS in education from Hunter College and an MEd in organizational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.  In order to gain an understanding of education systems outside of the U.S., Megan also traveled to Chile to work for the United Nations Development Programme and the Chilean Ministry of Education as an English teacher through the English Opens Doors Program.
