Pasha Zandieh

After graduating college, Pasha taught history at a public high school in Newark, New Jersey, where he was awarded two grants to design a program for at-risk 9th-grade students. Later as the Dean of School Culture in the same school, he utilized design thinking strategies to overhaul the discipline system to focus on student/teacher feedback and context over compliance and disciplinary interactions. For the past several years, Pasha has worked as a Director of Operations in charter schools, where he advocated for student voice and innovative teaching and engagement strategies.
As the Director of Program Improvement and Research, Pasha manages the Great Oaks internal research portfolio and works closely with the data team to evaluate and measure which educational interventions positively impact student and teacher performance, in which settings, and why. The opportunity to use both quantitative and qualitative methods allows Pasha to examine student, fellow, and teacher performance, but more importantly, the qualitative work enables him to listen and learn from students, fellows, and teachers as sources of knowledge – something that is particularly important to him as a former practitioner.
